NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 24, 2012) - Multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist John Schlitt is set to perform at the Faith and Freedom Celebration on August 26 in Tampa, Fla., an event hosted by the Florida Faith and Freedom Coalition. The event is being held in coordination with the Republican National Convention, which will convene August 27-30 in Tampa.
Schlitt joins speakers including former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and Florida Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll, among others.
Schlitt will perform his single "Faith and Freedom" from his critically acclaimed fourth solo CD, The Greater Cause.
"The coolest part about performing 'Faith and Freedom' is that the song was written by Ian Eskelin and Dan Needham for my new CD long before we knew about the Faith and Freedom Celebration," Schlitt says. "And now here we are performing the song at the event!"
Schlitt says the song extols the Christian values on which the United States was built.
"I think it's important for Americans to realize the amazing blessings we have because we live in this country," Schlitt says regarding the message behind the song. "I hope this song is a reminder of the Christian principles on which our nation was founded."
The Greater Cause, released May 8 by 4K Records, is distributed by New Day Christian Distributors. For more information about Schlitt and The Greater Cause, go to johnwschlitt.com or newdaychristian.com.
